"The best way to learn 3D is to just start making something. Don't worry about being perfect — worry about finishing."

— Andrew Price

Biography

Andrew Price is the creator behind Blender Guru, one of the most popular and influential Blender tutorial channels on YouTube with over 3.4 million subscribers. Based in Australia, Andrew has been creating Blender tutorials since 2008 and has taught millions of people how to use 3D software.

His iconic "Donut Tutorial" series — remade four times to stay current with Blender's major interface changes — is widely considered the definitive starting point for anyone learning Blender. The series has introduced more people to 3D modeling than almost any other resource. Beyond teaching, Andrew is the founder and CEO of Poliigon, a marketplace for premium textures, HDRIs, and 3D models used by artists worldwide.

Andrew's teaching philosophy emphasizes fundamentals first — lighting, composition, and clean modeling workflows — making complex 3D concepts accessible to complete beginners.

Signature Technique

Three-Point Lighting for Beginners

Andrew's signature approach teaches lighting as the foundation of great renders. He breaks down key, fill, and rim lighting in ways beginners can immediately apply, showing that good lighting can make even simple models look professional.

The Donut Method

A carefully scaffolded curriculum disguised as a fun project. Each donut tutorial builds on the previous one, introducing modeling, modifiers, sculpting, shading, geometry nodes, UV unwrapping, and lighting in a natural progression.

PBR Texture Workflow

Andrew emphasizes physically-based rendering (PBR) workflows, teaching artists how to use roughness, metallic, normal, and displacement maps effectively through his Poliigon texture library demonstrations.
